The Dominican Republic Mission Team is based in Wallingford, CT, but they have been sending short-term mission teams to La Romana, DR, since February of 1990. Since that first team of 11 missionaries, the DR Mission Team has grown so much over the years to where they now send four weeks of people to serve (winter, two in the summer, and fall), adding up to 175-200 volunteers annually. The organization’s founders, Rev. Jean Luc Phanord came from Haiti to La Romana in 1979, only to be faced with harsh realities. As a result, they became moved to meet the needs of human beings with compassion. The duo began working hard to meet the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of people without regard to their race or religious beliefs. Since 1990, The Dominican Republic Mission Team has been able to make a considerable difference to the community, such as restoration of more than 21 churches, the construction of schools, and laying the foundation of the beginnings of mobile medical clinics.
Saturday, April 13th, 2019 this organization hosted an annual event they call “The Team Experience” which is a night out to celebrate the efforts of hundreds of local volunteers and supporters who are bringing help and hope to the very poor in La Romana, Dominican Republic. Hosted in The New Life Church in Wallingford Connecticut, this event includes live music, amazing food, raffles, and a silent auction. Over the last 16 years, this event has raised over $380,000 to support hundreds of local volunteer missionaries and their incredible efforts.
This year the Sticker Genius Team had the unique opportunity to offer our own support by selecting this special organization as our April, Donation of The Month Program. We were honored to provide all the banners and signage for the annual fundraising event. With the help of Sticker Genius and other generous contributions received by the DR Mission Team, The Team Experience Event was able to raise over $25,000 to benefit the cause.
